A Pioneer Who Changed the Game Early

From the first moment Craig Harper stepped into the studio, his energy filled the room. He has spent more than forty years driving conversations about health, performance and human behaviour. His experience covers sport, business, science and personal change. Craig built his ideas through real work with real people, not theories on paper.

He started his professional journey in 1982. The fitness world had no structure then, but Craig helped give it one. He trained athletes, coached teams and built businesses long before “performance coaching” became a household phrase.

A Career Spanning Sport, Science and Media

Craig’s background is diverse and hands-on. He has worked as an Exercise Scientist, AFL conditioning coach, university lecturer, presenter and successful business owner. In 1990, he launched Harper’s Personal Training. It grew into one of the country’s most recognised fitness businesses and helped shape the industry for almost twenty-five years.

Craig also reached millions across Australia through radio and television. He hosted “The Science of Sport” for ten years, appeared as the resident performance coach on national morning TV, and now presents on Foxtel’s lifestyle program “Get a Life”. His voice, ideas and attitude have influenced audiences for decades.

From Performance Coaching to Neuroscience

Today, Craig is deep in neuroscience research with Monash University. He studies how people think, why they behave the way they do and what drives lasting change. He explores motivation, addiction and the psychology behind personal transformation. His Ph.D. work investigates why some people change for life while others return to old patterns.

This mix of science and lived experience gives Craig a rare perspective. He understands performance from both the lab and the locker room.

A Leader Who Brings Real-World Wisdom

Craig has worked with elite athletes, sporting clubs and Olympians across many codes. He has coached teams such as St Kilda F.C., the Melbourne Vixens, Port Melbourne F.C. and Nissan Motorsport. Hundreds of corporate clients also rely on his ideas each year, with Craig delivering more than one hundred presentations annually.

His message is simple and powerful. Lasting change comes from self-awareness, responsibility and action. People grow when they take ownership of their choices, build strong habits and learn how to manage their inner world.

Why This Conversation Matters

This episode offers practical insights for anyone leading a team, building a business or chasing personal improvement. Craig strips away the noise and focuses on what actually works. His thinking is direct, relatable and built on a lifetime of helping people improve.

Craig Harper Hear Me Roar is a conversation packed with clarity, momentum and real tools for growth. It is a must-listen for anyone who wants to perform at a higher level.
