In the latest Hear Me ROAR episode, Suji Sanjeevan shares how she transformed a home‑made hobby into Light & Glo. Designs, turning kitchen craft into Australia’s go‑to artisan fragrance house.
Suji and her husband Jeeva:
Both medically trained, founded Light & Glo in Melbourne in December 2015 during maternity leave, investing just $237 to start their venture .
Their scientific backgrounds in clinical research and allergy medicine allowed them to bring a unique sensory‑scientific approach to creating soy‑wax, wood‑wick candles and bespoke Eau de Parfum.
The Launch
When Suji launched the Light & Glo candle story, she didn’t just build a business -she created an experience. Her candles are designed around how scents trigger dopamine and serotonin, and evoke memory and calm.
The brand quickly won awards – pointing to its quality and innovation – and expanded into wholesale retail across more than 150 stores in Australia
In 2020, Suji and Jeeva launched BrandScent – a scent marketing agency providing signature fragrance identities for clients like American Express, Chandon, Arnott’s and Mimosa Homes. Their Shark Tank Australia pitch in 2023 sealed it: a $175,000 investment from Robert Herjavec validated their vision and accelerated national reach.
